Maternity sharing worked for us

So, my friend told me about CHM when I was pregnant and looking for options. We decided to go with their maternity sharing plan. It was a bit confusing at first, figuring out the waiting period and everything, but once we got past that, it was okay. I submitted my medical bills after the baby came, and they shared the costs like they said they would. It wasn't instant, took a few weeks for the checks to come through, but it definitely helped out a lot with the hospital bills. Plus, getting some spiritual resources was a nice touch. I also added Brother's Keeper later, just in case. Feeling good about it.

Family plan savings are good

I was looking for a budget-friendly alternative to regular insurance for my family. We went with the family membership and opted for the Silver program after comparing it with a few others like Medi-Share. The savings on the family plan felt substantial, which was the main reason I chose CHM. I also added the prescription discounts, which have saved us a bit already. It felt worth the money given what we'd pay elsewhere, especially with the individual membership costs added up for everyone. Overall, good value.

Good Gold program experience

I joined the Gold program last year. The medical bill sharing process was straightforward. Submitted a few bills, and they were handled well. No issues. It took a little time, but everything eventually worked out fine. I'm happy with the service.

What's the deal with their Gold, Silver, and Bronze plans? Is one way better than the others or what?

C Cleo Bennett 1 month ago
Gold has the lowest personal responsibility amount and covers the most. Silver and Bronze have higher personal responsibility, meaning you pay more out of pocket before sharing kicks in. Gold is definitely the most comprehensive.

Yeah, Gold is usually for folks who want more coverage and less out-of-pocket, Silver and Bronze are more budget-friendly but you'll have higher personal responsibility for medical events.

I'm looking into Medi-Share and CHM. Any thoughts on how CHM compares or if one is generally better for a young family?

M Mike 1 month ago
I looked at both. CHM felt a bit simpler with their personal responsibility structure. Some say Medi-Share has more restrictions on what they'll share. Definitely compare the maternity sharing if that's relevant to your family plans.

CHM vs Medi-Share, it really depends on what you value. Both are solid options for Christian health sharing. I think CHM might be a bit more straightforward with their sharing process, but that's just my take.

Hey, thinking about CHM for my family. Is it like real insurance, or is it totally different in how it works?

P Priya 1 month ago
Nah, it's not insurance, it's a cost-sharing ministry. So you're not paying premiums, you're like, 'gifting' to other members' medical bills. It's different for tax stuff too.

Totally different from regular insurance. You share medical costs with other members. It's more of a community thing, less of a regulated product like insurance is.

Are there any promo codes or ways to get a discount when signing up for CHM? Like for the application fee or something?

J Julia N. 3 weeks ago
They don't do like, coupon codes in the traditional sense. But they do have a referral program! If someone refers you, they get a free month, and sometimes that translates to a benefit for new members, or at least a good connection. No application fee discounts that I'm aware of though.

Not really promo codes, it's all about referrals. If an existing member refers you, they can get a credit. That's usually how the 'discounts' work there. They don't have those online coupon type deals.
